Sustainable Woods ia a program of Appalachian Sustainable Development, a not-for-profit organization working in 10 counties of the Appalachian section of Virginia and Tennessee. Formed in 1995, ASD focuses on developing healthy, diverse and ecologically sound economic opportunities through education and training, and the development of cooperative networks and marketing systems. We seek development that promotes community and empowers people.  Simply put, it sustains life.  We define sustainable development as that which meets the needs of the present generation while allowing future generations to meet their own.
